Working off the classic Rangemaster circuit, the Chaos Dao Boost has a bit more to it than your stock treble booster.
The tone knob can help the circuit really cut through the mix to the right side, and unlike regular treble boosters can also add a ton of beef to the mix on the left side. The dirt knob can help add or subtract gain from the circuit helping to really dial in that classic grit.
My pedal is built with an A25k volume pot instead of the stock A10k pot the classic rangemaster circuit calls for. While both work equally well, the 25k just provides a bit of extra volume to push it into overdrive for that extra bit of chaos when needed..
And just in case you wanted one more slice of sonic versatility, there is also a bias trim pot on the inside of the pedal to adjust the voltage hitting the transistor to set how “vintage/modern” or “open/compressed” the circuit sounds overall.
I usually throw a select silicon transistor in my build but I also build these with germanium transistors measured for the perfect biasing with low noise as well!
